I met with Jeff and Lindsey and her lovely mother today... and we're so excited, to have booked our first 2012 booking! We'll be doing an engagement session with the two of them, as well as a "Bearer Of The Dresses" Session... 3 of Lindsey's friends will be getting together for a girls night, while wearing their wedding dresses, some time after their weddings and we'll be photographing it! Neat, neat, neat... We love it! Different is what we love...

This has been a very busy and productive, wonderful day for GSP... :) Wish they could all be like this!!! :)

I met with Sauve' and her mother Susan this evening... If I had to describe Sauve' in one word, it would be "delightful"... she is just so sweet and I cannot wait to work with her, she is going to be one beautiful bride. I have not met her husband to be, just yet... Susan, Sauve' and I sat down and we had a great time, discussing her upcoming wedding in June, 2011... which will be held at a gorgeous location in the mountains of NC... It will be at Pretty Place at Cedar Mountain, NC... and then their reception will be held at the Inn on Church St. in Hendersonville, NC. A quaint little, town... with so much character, perfectly fitting for this family! They discussed Sauve's father Roger and I would've loved to meet him, he's quite the planner... if only all father's would be so involved... life would be a much better place! :)

We are most excited to be working with this wonderful family! We cannot wait to be a part of their wedding!

Hector & Lourdes... They love each other so much, their doing it again!

GSP Featured As Pretty In The Queen City's Friday Feature...

In 1991, Dawn Gaddy began photographing weddings in Wisconsin. This was during the "film age" which was quite different than today. The technology available to photographers today make it easier to capture every single special moment of that special day. 

In 2002, Dawn moved to North Carolina and by 2003, Dawn had built her business by specializing in maternity, new born, and family portraits.  Not only was she working on her own business but she was also assisting a well known NC photographer on a variety of shoots including weddings, commercial, real estate and portrait photography. Dawn was also in charge of all editing and retouching in the studio. 

Dawn met the love of her life in 2006. Not only did she meet the man of her dreams but she met someone with the same passion she held. Photography. Darrell's passion was sports, and real life photography. A care free photojournalistic passion. Now that she had someone in her life with a passion for photography as herself, there was only one thing left to do,

GET MARRIED.

In 2008, Darrell and Dawn became husband and wife. And shortly after that they had a beautiful little boy that was born at 24 weeks....a miracle baby at 1lb 9oz . It was during this time in their life that I met this fabulous couple. The love they had for one another and the strength they had for this new life was absolutely beautiful. As Darrell and Dawn said, there had to be a strong passionate name they could give their little fighter, Greyson Steele Gaddy. 

And that is how Greyson Steele Photography was born which is this week's

We love you, you all are planners... and it's so exciting to see the prospects coming in for our September, October and November 2011 weddings...

I would like to commend you all... I'd say 1/2 of you that I've talked to... have your priorities straight... you're going for your big items first... your venue and your photographer, caterer, etc... That is SO smart! It's important to get all the big details nailed down... and then go for the little details... you'll always be able to find a florist (unless they are world renowned) and chances are your bridal shop will have the dress you are dreaming of and with as much time as you ladies plan ahead... there will be no problem having that dress in time!

Kudo's to our brides... We are going to have so much fun! And you are going to LOVE how beautiful you are on your wedding day... and I promise to make you look absolutely perfect... :)

Paula and Josh are a really neat couple, both teachers... they have decided to have their wedding in September 2011 at the gorgeous venue... "The Arbors" in North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte...

Nick and Nicole - 11/21/2010 West Palm Beach Wedding

First we had a mini maternity session with Nicole who is rather pregnant... They turned out stunning, we had only natural light to work with... and I couldn't be happier with the outcome... Thanks to the DoubleTree Hotel & Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, we had a great location and plenty of photo opportunities where we could shoot... We'd like to thank DoubleTree Hotel & Resort for a fantastic hospitality.



The wedding turned out fantastic... from a getting ready session at the The DoubleTree Hotel - they had a gorgeous facility and rooms - The location where they had their wedding in West Palm Beach - was Veteran's Memorial Park and it had some of the most beautiful fountains and scenery...

Storybook Albums...

This will be our last blog for a few days while we're gone... But today, I wanted to talk a bit about Storybook albums... and how personal they are to the bride and groom...

What we do, is ask our brides/grooms... to send us a 1 page story of how they met and some personal information about them... and it really helps us to design their storybook around that, somewhat as a theme... For instance, we had a couple that met in high school and went their separate ways... she even married someone else for a time... and they wound up back together... ##Serendipity## was their album theme... I love that stuff and get all into it... get engrossed in their story... you know the story of their wedding, after all, we were there! But, how awesome it is to know of how they met... you can even do little re-enactments during the wedding to re-create scenarios... for instance, if they met in a bar... (we don't all meet on the internet these days :)) have a photo of them toasting each other across the room at the bar at the venue...

Our storybook albums come in an array of sizes, but we offer the 10X10 and the 12X12 in our Gold Steele and Platinum Steele packages... in those albums, we recommend no more than 75 photos... unless you plan to add an additional 20 pages... and then you can double that... 75 of your favorites, it's usually a daunting and difficult job, because hey... we always have a ton of great photos... I have some brides who are still choosing from July (not recommended).

A great way to remember your story... forever!

Florida Bound!! Destination Weddings...

We're leaving Thursday morning bright and early and heading to West Palm Beach to photograph a destination wedding there... Nick and Nicole are now considered friends that I met through What To Expect Moms... Ironically, Nicole and I met online! Nicole and I were both trying to conceive at the same time and ironically, one year apart from each other to the day, we both experienced losses of our babies at around 20ish weeks gestation. I was 21 and she was 18. Ironically, she's pregnant again and due when Greyson was due to be born a year later... There are a lot of ironies in our stories... Funny how things bring you together! Through loss there is always triumph in some way or another, it just depends on your perspective... and outlook.

Nick and Nicole decided to hire us to be their wedding photographer, after constantly seeing our wedding photos... who better to hire when they were getting married? And, so we will meet for the first time... in person.

Nicole is quite pregnant and it's going to make for some top shelf photos! :) Literally...

Very exciting! We are very happy to be a part of their wedding story!

Congratulations Hannah & Brennan...

We are excited to add another wedding date to our calendar! We met with Hannah and Brennan and they are just such a neat couple, before Hannah and I even spoke, she had emailed me and told me how she could feel the emotion in our photographs.. and I told her when we spoke "you get it" and I absolutely loved that! I knew that we were going to hit it off even before we met... and it's so important that you do click with your photographer because they spend so much time with you!

Hannah and Brennan are an urbanized couple and want the feeling of uptown and that is what they will get! They will be having their reception at the Hotel Sierra uptown...

Hannah will be having a Bridal Session with us as well...

We could not be more excited... another June date has bitten the dust!

What an amazing weekend! Caleb & Stephanie got married last night at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa and we photographed their wedding. It was absolutely beautiful... we started the day capturing them getting ready and then on into the evening. The leaves were in full color, absolutely stunning!

West Palm Beach Wedding

We are so excited to be traveling later this month to West Palm Beach Florida to photograph a wedding. This is our first destination wedding out of the Carolinas, so we are extremely excited to be a part of this! Our bride is quite pregnant, so it should make for some really cute photo opportunities... We will be traveling from the 18th-22nd of November...

We cannot be more excited... Congratulations Nick and Nicole! We can't wait to be a part of your very special day!

A Little Tidbit From The Photographer... Time!

The one thing we ask our brides/grooms for... Time! We arrive typically 1-1.5 hours before the ceremony to assure we are there to capture those moments so special before the wedding... Mom helping you get into your dress... Your best man helping you with your tie, etc... We ask for at least 15-20 minutes before the ceremony with time with just the bride and time with just the groom... The beauty is with 2 photograpers, we can be in 2 places at once... it works fantastic!

After the wedding, we ask for at least 30 minutes with the bride and groom... to get those intimate moments that you will cherish after the wedding is over... The bride and groom are usually eager to get back to their guests... so we are very efficient and make sure we make the most of this time... but if we can get this commitment from our brides/grooms... you are SURE to love the outcome!

Other than that, we're capturing real time moments... candids and photojournalistic shots...

It's so important to have a connection with your photographer... because we will be spending the most 1 on 1 time with you and the groom... We're sure you'll love us! We're easy and fun!

I met with Kerry and her mother Barbara today... We signed them up for a June Wedding, 2011... It's going to be at their family's church and reception to follow at Gaston Country Club! Sure to be a hit, with all the avid golfers! They said the location is just beautiful! We have all kinds of shots in mind and cannot wait to be a part of their special day...

Location, Location, Location!!!

If there is one bit of advice that I can give any potential bride is to make sure you don't cut corners on your wedding location! It's so true when it comes to real estate and it's true when it comes to weddings... Location makes all the difference... If you choose a beautiful location, you don't need a lot of decorations to make it look beautiful... it just is... On the flip side.. your wedding photos will also be beautiful...

If you need to cut corners on your location for your wedding, make sure to allot an extra hour or so in your photography package to allow time to go off site to get the desired wedding photos you are looking for...

Congratulations Leigha & Cesar!

Although we met Leigha & Cesar awhile back we wanted to announce their wedding date as well! They are getting married April 9, 2011! This will be our second wedding at the South Charlotte Banquet Center, a truly beautiful location to have a wedding and reception. We are constantly trying to improve and expand on our current website.. we have added

Coming up, we'll be photographing a wedding a the gorgeous Lake Lure Inn & Spa... This was the hotel that Patrick Swayze stayed in with the cast of Dirty Dancing. This location is absolutely stunning. There are so many photo opportunities and we couldn't be more excited to be photographing this wedding!
